Decay is the most common dental problem we see, and the second most common disease in the nation. (Number one is the common cold.) If you have one or more teeth with decay, it’s time to take care of them.
By tooth decay, we mean cavities. The symptoms include a toothache, sensitivity to food temperatures, and pain when chewing. Tooth decay is the destruction of tooth enamel, the hard outer layer of the teeth.
Cavities are most common in children, but they can happen at any age, which is why proper oral hygiene should be a lifelong pursuit. You can help to prevent it with these tips:
- Brush your teeth twice a day
- Use fluoride toothpaste
- Floss daily
- Limit snacks
- See us twice a year for checkups and cleanings
